Scrubbler Nozzle Wiper for Bambu Lab P1S: Install Guide and Fix

Scrubbler Nozzle Wiper for Bambu Lab P1S: Install Guide and Fix

The stock nozzle wiper on Bambu Lab P1 and X1 printers works okay, but if you print a lot of PETG (like me) it often isn't thorough enough. The Scrubbler combines the A1-series rubber wiper with the P1/X1 wiper. Here's how to install it, and the fix for the problem I ran into.

The quick version

  • The Scrubbler pairs the A1's rubber wafer with the stock P1/X1 wiper, giving you the best of both.
  • Add the anti-splash cover so purged filament doesn't fling onto your build plate.
  • Print the parts in PETG (or ABS/ASA if that's what you print).
  • The only part to buy is the A1 rubber wafer; screws come from your printer's spares and scraper bag.
  • On a P1P/P1S, use the remix with the lowered wiper. The original sat too high and chewed up the PTFE tubing.

Why the Scrubbler?

I compared a few popular designs first. The silicone-tube "ultimate" wiper sprayed filament everywhere, the over-engineered "poop sweeper" didn't reliably hit the nozzle, and the wafer-based wiper v3.3 collected stuck filament over time. The Scrubbler had great reviews and combines the two approaches that actually work.

Printing and assembling

  1. Pick the right version for your printer (there's a regular version and others; I used the regular one for my P1S).
  2. Print in PETG for heat resistance, then remove the supports.
  3. Pre-thread the screw holes by semi-assembling it first. It makes installation easier.
  4. Cut the A1 rubber wafer to four rows of nubs with a hobby knife on a cutting mat.
  5. The wafer's adhesive isn't strong enough, so add a small drop of super glue, and wipe off any overflow quickly.

Installing it

  1. Remove the original wiper, then the chute screw.
  2. Fit the bottom half into the chute and screw it in (I used a screw from the scraper kit).
  3. Install the mounting bracket with the screw you removed earlier and tighten everything.
  4. Slot in the anti-splash cover. No screws needed; wiggle it until it seats.
  5. If you use a third-party build plate, check there's clearance around the lip before running a print.

The problem, and the fix

With the original design, the stock wiper sat too high. The nozzle pushed hard into it, filament got trapped between the two wipers, and the PTFE tubing was falling apart after about three prints. A version with recessed mounts sat too low and barely touched the nozzle. The fix was a remix by maker br1acc that mounts the wiper underneath the mounting point. With that, the two wipers lined up perfectly: clean nozzle, no filament spray, and no damage to the rubber or tubing.

It works without G-code changes, but I added an extra wipe before the final nozzle clean along the bed. The G-code and install instructions are on the MakerWorld page.

Common questions

What is the Scrubbler nozzle wiper?

A printable upgrade that pairs the Bambu Lab A1's rubber wiper wafer with the stock P1/X1 wiper, for a more thorough nozzle clean, especially when printing PETG.

What do I need to install the Scrubbler?

The printed parts (in PETG, or ABS/ASA), an A1 rubber wafer cut to four rows of nubs, a drop of super glue, and screws from your printer's spares and scraper bag.

Why is my Scrubbler damaging the PTFE tube on my P1S?

With the original design the stock wiper sits too high, so the nozzle pushes hard into it and traps filament. On a P1P/P1S, use the remix by br1acc that mounts the wiper lower; the two wipers then line up perfectly.
